Guitar Chords

Guitar chords are sets of notes played together on guitar, often its said to be a set of at least three notes. how chords are implemented largely depends o the tuning of the guitar. Most guitars have six strings with the standard tuning from the Spanish classical guitar , E-A-D-G-B-E', they move from the string with the lowest pitch string to the highest.

The first thing one should learn is the chord box, they show where to place your fingers on the finger board in order to play. Vertical lines represent the strings, they are six. String six, furthest left is the thickest. Horizontal lines represent frets, The two lines on top of the box show the nut, nut is the piece that the strings go through to the headstone. Numbered dots show where to place your fingers, the index finger is number 1, middle finger is number 2, the ring finger is number 3, Pinky finger is the fourth. 'X' and 'O' appear above each string to show whether you should play it or not. 'X' you don't play 'O' is open you can play but with no fingers holding it.

One should also understand a guitar tablature(guitar tab). this is a special way of writing music specifically for the guitar. it often offers more information than notation and is perfect for those who do not read music.

Here are some of the basic guitar chords

Basic E minor guitar chord (Em chord). This is the first chord that beginners learn. it is not only easy but also used in most songs. The minor is kind of like a flavor to the music

Basic C major chord. This is the second most basic chord C chord is just assumed to be C major. in this chord there is an 'X' in the sixth string so you mute it or you don't play it. In this chord you want to sweep your thumb across the 5 highest strings.

Playing a guitar takes a lot of practice. You should aim to practice frequently as opposed to random long hour sessions. fifteen minutes of practice every day is better than 6 hours of practice on Saturdays

some few things you should practice. Playing the notes individually making sure all notes sound properly. you should also practice how to witch between different chords swiftly without stopping, aim at having a very steady beat.

The best way to practice as a beginner is using basic chord progression. Chord progressions are just common combination of chords.

Tuning. This is an important skill to learn. it also takes a lot of practice, it would be difficult for a beginner to know how to tune even before they know how the note should sound therefore it is advisable to get a tuner. Electric tuners are not that expensive. some can even be found on google play store or the iPhone app store.

The first time you play your fingers are going to hurt and your hand may feel numb but gradually you will get used to it. stretching your fingers and some massage might help a bit
